Ellen Furnari is devoted to helping nonprofit and philanthropic organizations affect change around the globe. Furnari’s extensive experience includes helping foundations achieve their missions, straddling strategy, evaluation and monitoting, grant making and community affairs, and communication. Current clients include the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding, where she consults on evaluation design and implementation.  Previously she was the Vice President of Programs and Strategy at Give2Asia and the Learning and Evaluation Officer for the Nonviolent Peaceforce in Sri Lanka.

In addition, she was the first executive director of the Ben & Jerry’s foundation in Waterbury, VT, USA. She has served on the board of numerous organizations including the Institute for Community Peace and the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund.

The author of several articles and publications in the field, Furnari has consulted with many foundations and nonprofits, including the Center for Reflective Community Practice at MIT, Sustainability Institute, Center for a Sustainable Future, Association of Small Foundations, Annie E Casey Foundation, the National Network of Grantmakers and the Vermont Fair Tax Coalition. The focus of her PhD thesis is the perceptions of front line peacekeepers, on effective peacekeeping.
